Dearest Patient Associations, At the close of a November truly full of events for raising awareness about pancreatic cancer, for which we are enormously grateful, and before the Christmas greetings, we are writing to you with an important update on the shortage of pancreatic enzymes on the market. AISP is monitoring requests in the area through direct dialogue with patients, pharmacies, general practitioners, and the company. A survey will soon be distributed to objectively capture the situation and monitor it over time. Viatris suggests following these instructions in case a patient with a prescription cannot find the medication at their trusted pharmacy: the pharmacist can call the toll-free number 800959500 followed by key 1, or send a request directly to the email address: ordini@viatris.com We have reminded all our members, and will do so also for general practitioners, to prescribe enzymes only if strictly necessary and according to authorized indications (AIFA note https://www.aifa.gov.it/farmaci- attualmente-carenti).
